NO HAY BAND IT'S ALL PLAYBACK [2017]

No hay band is all playback  it is an apparition.

​

Suddenly the artists appear in the space among the audience and perform, through the Lip Sync dubbing device, remixed hits from the 90s.

​

Interested in the paradoxical universe of pop culture, which is both massifying and provocative, the selected playlist tensions this relationship based on a national and international selection of songs performed by women.  The contagious hits sew elements of the cultural context of the 90s into their dramaturgy, a moment with a strong presence of television and its auditorium programs and greater openness to North American influences from neoliberal advances in political and economic aspects.

No hay band is all playback  it mobilizes the ambiguous feeling of familiarity and discomfort that seeps and displaces, from a festive to an acidic state, our perceptions and references.
